Creating a More Beautiful Smile, Instantly

A woman before and after getting veneers

In most cases, when patients are unhappy with the appearance of their smile, they are concerned about one or more of the following issues: the shape, size, spacing, or shade of their teeth. While there are many cosmetic dentistry treatments in Westbury that can correct these issues, they can often take months or even years to complete. With durable, lifelike veneers, you can correct all these problems, usually in about two appointments spaced about two weeks apart. In fact, veneers have earned such an impressive reputation for helping patients achieve their smile goals quickly they’re often referred to as “instant orthodontics.”

What Are Dental Veneers?

Veneers are thin porcelain shells that fit over your existing teeth to improve a variety of dental flaws, including the size, shape, spacing and color of your teeth. They can easily conceal many issues including gaps between teeth, uneven wear, chipped edges, and deep stains and discoloration, all at once.

Veneers can be made of several materials but are most typically made of porcelain or ceramic. These materials are not only durable and stain-resistant, but they also look and feel just like real tooth enamel, so nobody will know they’re not your real teeth, and you may even forget you have them yourself!

The Process of Getting Veneers

Getting veneers is a simple process. First, you’ll need to meet with your dentist for a consultation. At this appointment, we’ll examine your teeth and get a better understanding of your smile goals. If your mouth needs any preliminary treatment such as fillings or gum disease treatment, we’ll need to address these first. Once healthy, we can begin your veneer treatment.

At your first veneer appointment, your dentist will remove a small amount of enamel from each tooth receiving prosthetics, so they are not too bulky and fit your smile perfectly. Then, impressions of your teeth will be made and sent to the dental lab where your veneers will be custom crafted. Your dentist will fit you with temporary veneers to wear while your permanent veneers are being created. Once they are delivered to our office (usually in about two weeks) you will return to have the temporary veneers removed and the permanent veneers attached.

Please note that although they are considered permanent veneers, these restorations will need to be replaced in about 15 to 20 years. Furthermore, because some enamel must be removed to attach them, those teeth will always need either a veneer or a dental crown going forward.

Benefits of Veneers

In addition to improving your smile faster than other treatments like orthodontics and providing longer-lasting results than professional whitening and dental bonding, veneers have many incredible benefits that you may not have considered, including:

  • Made from durable, stain-resistant porcelain or ceramic.
  • Can last for 15+ years with proper care and maintenance.
  • Versatile treatment can correct many dental flaws at once.
  • Completely customizable for a lifelike appearance.

Understanding the Cost of Veneers

Because most dental insurance plans do not cover elective treatment and veneers are considered elective, they are not usually covered by dental insurance. However, at Westbury Dental Spa we believe that your budget should never stand in the way of a beautiful smile. That’s why we proudly welcome flexible financing plans from our preferred third-party lender, CareCredit. With these plans, you can break up the cost of your veneers treatment into multiple, low-to-no interest monthly payments that may be better suited to your budget.
